WASSCE riots: indiscipline act is uncharacteristic of private schools – GNACOPS replies AKYEMHENE

 

 

With respect to the incidents of indiscipline acts being displayed by some SHS students who are writing the ongoing Wassce exams, where Bright college SHS in the Eastern region has been noted to be part of the schools involved in the act of indiscipline, the Ghana National Council Of Private Schools, Gnacops, wishes to bring to the attention of the public that, Bright college SHS does not train students to wallow in the act of indiscipline.

This was put to light by the National communication director for the council, Mr Samuel Nyamekye after the National Executive Director, Mr Enoch Kwasi Gyetuah for the council had visited the school after the incident.

In responding to a statement made by the AKYEMHENE AMOATIA OFORI PANIN that Bright college SHS should be closed down for some allegations leveled against the school, the communication director for GNACOPS, hinted that per their checks Bright college SHS is not a breeding ground for INDISCIPLINE students and a such the ministry of education, MOE, the Ghana education service, GES and all stakeholders of education should disregard any allegation against the school.

Below is the report gathered when the leadership of Gnacops visited the school:

The incident which sent the Executive Director of GHACOPS, Mr. Enoch Gyetuah and the Regional coordinator Rev. Lawrence Awatey to the scene, thus Bright College at Akyem kukuramtumi occurred on Thursday 5th August 2020 during the hours of 9:00 am and 10:00 am when exams was in progress.

ACCOUNT OF MR. G.Y GYAKYE: the team of The Executive Director arrived with TV3 crew to the campus around 2:15 pm on Friday, 6th August 2020 on a fact finding mission.

WAEC told us the incident took place around 9:30 am when they were writing social studies paper. He hinted before referring us to the Headmaster that the issue involves the depo official from WAEC and the teachers of the school.

HEADMASTER’s ACCOUNT: Mr. Frankin Ebo Adum, Head of the institution in his account said teachers of the institution were given 5 slots for invigilation.
He motioned the depo official Mr. Nii Mensah slapped a student on Monday during the science paper for allegedly being in possession of a paper. He was asked to write a statement to the police.
The headmaster narrated that, Mr. Nii Mensah ignored the 5 slot given the teachers and brought in his own invigilators and 5 private Security Personnel. He accordingly prevented all others from entering the exams halls. BNI people came around during the incident and can even serve as principal witness to the issue.
Mr. Ebo Adum narrated how a student was allowed to visit the washroom but was prevented by one of Mr. Nii Mensah’s private security man and in the process slapped the boy who also replied him and in the process created a nasty scene which resulted in a strange stone landing at the forehead of the Depo man, Mr. Nii Mensah, the headmaster added that the Director of the School was prevented from entering the premises by one of those private security.

SCHOOL DIRECTOR: On his part, the director gave an account of how he was disallowed from entering the school. He confirmed the private security men brought by the depo man but said they were 20 and not 5 as indicated by the head of the school. They were from spotlight security solution.
The director further told the team of these utterances made by the depoman and his security personnel:
We want to see you fail as Nana Addo also fail
We would succeed in our plans
He also mentioned how the security men saw the nakedness of student girls for following them to the washrooms. They also collected booklets from the students and torn them into pieces.
