Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana His Excellency Eliphas M Barine has
underscored strategic conditions needed for a rapid face-lifting of Ghana’s and for that matter Africa’s tourism industry.
He said at a Public-Private Partnership Forum (PPPF) held in Kumasi on 24th March 2024 by officials of Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) that for the country to reap the full benefit of the sector, officials manning the affairs will have to establish more networks among other Africa countries and encourage the citizenry to explore countries within the continent.
The Kenyan official premised his recommendation on the reality that majority of Africans travel so much but not within their region.
His Excellency Eliphas Barine explained that tourism within Africa countries should be prioritized so as to keep the wealth within the continent.
Addressing the media at the sidelines of the forum, he called for the building of skills of sector players and an improvement of our standardization so that services related to tourism will meet the expectations of tourists.
He explained that doing that will make the continent competitive.
“The sector has the capacity to resolve a lot of challenges we face today”.
The purpose of the forum was to engage stakeholders and players within Ghana’s tourism industry so as to identify and address challenges confronting the sector.
