The football story of Dominic Adiyiah could be the most painful story in the world of football.
Adiyiah started his professional football career at Feyenoord in Ghana.
He was raised by their academy located at Gomoa Fetteh.
In the year 2007, he joined Hearts of Lions and at the end of the season, he was named the Most Exciting Player of the league.
He made a move later to join Fredrikstad in Norway for a fee of hundred thousand pounds. He made his debut in an away game against Aalesund.
Adiyiah went scoreless in four games during the 2008 season. His team performed well and as a result placed second in the league qualifying for the Europa league play off.
Adiyiah made his debut in the Europa league play off against Lech Poznan.
Adiyiah’s impressive display in the under-20 World Cup in October 2009 earned him a transfer to the Italian giants AC Milan.
He again earned a place in the Ghana National Team and took part in the African cup of Nations. Adiyiah was not selected by Milan’s manager, Leonardo for the rest of the season.
He completed a three year contract with Russian side, Arsenal Kyiv on June 25, 2012. He was later sent on a season long loan to Partizan in Serbia where he reunited with Prince Tagoe, his national team mate.
Adiyiah was loaned again to Karsiyaka in Turkey’s second tier league. He was called back in February 2012 because he was not getting playing time. Adiyiah sunk further in 2014 and signed for FC Atyrau in the Kazakhstan premier league
Adiyiah gradually vanished into thin air and forever lost his place in the Ghana Black Stars.
I strongly and confidently believe that whoever advised the young promising Adiyiah to signed for AC Milan did him a greater harm than good. Winning the under-20 FIFA World cup was a boost for the young star.
Today, Adiyiah’s name has been buried and vanished miraculously. Could it be a result of his name ‘Adiyiah’ which means pain? Was it his destiny? No destiny had something good to offer him but his name brought him to a sad end. Adiyiah should have changed his name when he grew. The meaning of his name I believe has caused him all the hard luck in life. What do you expect when you are named ‘pain’? You would only go through pain and that exactly is what has happened to the Ghanaian star Dominic Adiyiah
What do you think about Dominic Adiyiah’s sudden rise and fall? In your opinion what caused his fall?
