“They Sit On Radio And Criticize All Because Alidu Is In charge”- MCE Spits Fire

Alhaji Alidu Seidu, Acting Municipal Chief Executive Officer for Asokore Mampong Municipality has fired his detractors over why they always criticize issues pertaining to the development of his jurisdiction all because he is the MCE for the area.

He cited on Saturday that there a lot of Municipalities around Asokore Mampong and that residents in those areas are committed to the payment of revenues without any critique.

Hon Alidu continued that even riders of the popular commercial motorcycle “Adedeta” and “troski” pays GHs 1.00 daily without hesitation.

He however lamented that “some people will sit on radio to criticize this.

They don’t understand why they should pay GHs 1.00. Meanwhile they go to race course market and pay GHs 2.00 at the entry.

Nobody saw anything wrong about that but in the case of Asokore Mampong if we tell you to pay GHs 1.00, it becomes an issue because Alidu is in charge.”, he roared.

He made this statement at a public gathering on Saturday 17th July 2021.

He told residents that “if we allow such things to eat into us, it will get to a point that development will become an issue”.

In his statement, he addressed the unpatriotic attitudinal posture of some residents who are of the wrong perception that development is the sole responsibility of government officials.

He gave a flashback on an incident that occurred two weeks ago where a vehicle crushed into the pole of a traffic light, insofar damaging it in the process.

Hon Alidu disclosed that “those who were around wanted to collect money from the driver and allow him to go with the simple reason that the MCE has to come and fix it…We are all in the game together.

If you sit down and say because Alidu is the MCE and that whatever happens should be at the doorstep of Alidu, you might get it wrong.”

He set the record straight in his statement that the status-quo demands orientation.

“I have always opted that we should go for community orientation and my next target is to make sure that we re-orient our people. Our people have to know what we have to be doing at all times and what our responsibilities are.”
