One great thing about Language is it’s dynamism.
Language is dynamic and because of this users should be versatile enough to be more dynamic in speaking.
The Queen’s language in particular is so dynamic that it doesn’t have a specific Formula like Maths.
The only thing that guides English Language is the rule of grammar.
The dynamic nature of it suggests that as a speaker, you shouldn’t hold on to one phrase in your daily speakings but try as much as possible to know other phrases used instead of it. This is the reason why we have synonyms in English Language.
The phrase “I agree with you” is correct but overused. Instead of overusing the phrase, why not learn other ways of saying it which will make you look more professional in speaking.
I want to show you ten other ways you can say “I agree with you” without being wrong. Let us jump right in.
1. We are in accord
Before you say “I agree with you”, it means both of you must have had a conversation that may likely result to an argument. So saying “we are in accord” simply means both of you are of the same opinion.
Example: The way things are going, I don’t think Smith can marry her.
Response: Frankly speaking, we are in accord.
This means you agree with him or her.
2. We are of one mind.
Example: What if we go shopping?
Response: I think we are of one mind.
This means you agree.
3. Jolly good.
Example: I think we need to travel out.
Response: Jolly good! Where are we going?
This means I agree, so where are we going?
4. I am of the same mind.
Example: We can’t stay here more than 5 minutes.
Response: I am of the same mind.
This means you agree.
5. I recon with you.
Example: I think we have lost the contract.
Response: I recon with you.
This means you agree.
6. I couldn’t agree more.
Example: I don’t like the way Chike is treating his wife.
Response: You are right because I couldn’t agree more.
This means you agree with his statement.
7. I would concede.
Example: You flog too much and it’s not right.
Response: I would concede that I over flog when I am angry.
This means you agree.
8. I see eye to eye with you.
Example: If I were to be working as a civil servant, I would have built my house.
Response: Sure, I see eye to eye with you.
This means you agree.
9. We have parallel thought.
Example: I don’t know if you will buy this idea but I think we should move out of this house.
Response: Dont worry yourself because We have parallel thought.
This means you agree.
10. I second that.
Example: We need to adjourn the meeting.
Response: I second that.
This means you agree.
Note, I only used different examples for dynamism sake if not, they can be used in the same context.
