On the 25th of August 2020, officials of the European Union funded Project No Business as Usual which under the SOS Children Villages-Kumasi organized a day’s training on proposal and grant writing for assembly members, Civil Society organizations and staff of Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly.
It was a training geared towards enhancing the capacity of participants to be able to write winning proposals and seek donor support to address the needs of their electoral areas and the municipality as a whole.
The event formed part of NBU’s mandate; building the capacity of Assembly member, CSO and Officials of the assembly and creating a collaborative environment to ensure local economic development.

Assembly members and CSOs drawn from the 14 electoral areas received the training at the hub of the Project. They were equipped with knowledge and skills on how they can identify donor agencies and seek support to complement interventions by the assembly in ensuring holistic development.
The event again offered them a platform to brainstorm and discuss the means through which they will be able to partner and address developmental issues affecting the area.
At the workshop, NBU Project Coordinator Esther Matey in her presentation schooled them on the types of proposals, how to write and put up a good content to convince donors to release funds, keys to winning a grant, checklist for proposal preparation, how to write a concept note, donor agencies they can apply for funds among others.
