Dr. Lawyer Dickson Osei-Asibey, NPP’s parliamentary candidate hopeful for Atwima Nwabiagya North constituency made a jumbo donation, worth GHs 165,000 on Tuesday, 28th November 2023.
The much talked about businessman cum legal practitioner, who has been tipped by some NPP delegates as the “soon coming Messiah” for the constituency distributed a little over 580 students mattress and chalk boxes to Junior High School graduates in the area.
As a top up to the foregoing, he gave the district police command a brand new motorcycle to enhance the fight against crime.
Presentation of the items was done personally by the candidate at the forecourt of a newly constructed lorry terminal at Asuofua.
Gracing the occasion were traditional, religious and opinion leaders, outgone and current NPP constituency executives, elected assembly members, among others.
Addressing the media on the sidelines, the MP hopeful said the gesture was a move, aimed at relieving vulnerable parents from the financial pressure exerted on them as a result of the list of items captured on the prospectus of the children.
He underlined that as the JHS graduates make preparations for their next level of education at their preferred Senior High Schools, the purchase of mattress; the most expensive among the list of items on prospectus cannot be skipped by parents, hence the need to support them.
Answering his critics, he pointed out without mincing words that the gesture was not influenced by his quest for the Parliamentary seat, defending that his passion is always driven towards supporting the vulnerable and addressing challenges faced by deprived communities.
Lawyer Dickson Osei-Asibey pledged to carry out similar support yearly “even if I win or loose”, adding that government cannot do it all alone.
The Queen of Asuofua Nana Baanieh Ahenkan thanked him for the support.
She called on parents to do their part by investing in the academic upbringing of the children.
The legal practitioner described himself as the right candidate to represent constituents in the house of Parliament.
He has acronymed his vision “JEHDU”; a shortened form of Jobs, Employment, Health, Development and Unity.
By way of expatiation, he reiterated his vision of creating a job desk for both formal and informal employment.
He promised to ensure that there are jobs for the unemployed , an enhanced academic and health facilities, execution of the needed developmental projects in every community and unity at all levels.
The candidate therefore called on NPP delegates to offer him a massive support for the parliamentary seat.
