Hardworking Mayor for Kumasi Metropolis Hon Osei Assibey has handed over 20 medical beds and mattresses received from Ghana’s First Lady Rebecca Akuffo-Addo to Suntreso Government Hospital.
Technically, the beds are all orthopedic and per their function, they are electrically rechargeable and has a full wave lifting manuvering capacity.
“Usually, they are used in isolation unit, emergency unit and are very useful when it comes to hospital operations”; Mr. Osei Agyema, Clinical Engineering Manager for the hospital explained.
They were handed over in the early hours of Thursday at the forecourt of the hospital to the Metro Health Director Madam Akosuah Omare Sasu who in turn handed them over to the administration.
The foregoing gesture was a replication of the dispensing of similar beds which numbered 40 by the Mayor to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Tech hospital.
Speaking at the occasion, Hon Osei Assibey (Kumasi Mayor) expressed that the items were received by the Assembly from the First Lady to be given out to the hospital as part her support against the spread of COVID-19 within the Metropolis.
He acknowledged that, since His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo took over as the President of Ghana, Kumasi Metropolis has and is enjoying a litany of benefits from the first lady.
Classic among them as disclosed by him is the ultramodern mother Care unit at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, provision of IT logistics for schools, libraries among others.
“Anytime we hear her name, it means goodies are coming”, he indicated at the event.
Receiving the items, the Metro Health Director thanked the first lady for the support.
She advised health officials of the beneficiary institution to use them appropriately.
