MoFA Presents 2020 National Best Farmer with His Award

Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto was joined by the Managing Director of the Agricultural Development Bank(ADB) to perform the official presentation of a cash sum of GH 570,000 Ghana Cedis to the 2020 National Best Farmer on 21st April, 2020.

“Since 2017, we have introduced a number of reforms in the National Farmers Day Award Scheme, including giving awardees the option to invest their cash in their area of interest along the agricultural value chain”, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto posited.

The Minister added that the Government of Ghana and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture will continue to prioritize the needs of farmers in the country and ensure their welfare.

Solomon Kusi, National Best Farmer for 2020 revealed that he will use part of the money to acquire and install a Cocoa Drying House and employ more people.

“As a major producer, I prayed and God revealed to me that we can build a drying house so that we can still dry cocoa during the rainy season using the same four to five day method. We use two sources of nature to dry cocoa; the sun and wind. With the drying house we are building, we will still use both natural methods we are used to”, he revealed.
