Corona package; Ghana gov’t absorbs electricity bills for 3 months

President Akuffo Addo has disclosed another utility relife package which is the absorption of bills on electricity consumption for all Ghanaians so as to lessen the pressure on citizens as government fights the terrible COVID-19.

He announced in his address to the nation tonight Thursday 9th April 2020 that “…as part of measures of mitigating for all Ghanaians for the next three months ie April, May and June, government will fully absorb electricity bill for the poorest of the poor ie for all life line consumer”.

He explained in his address that the package is free for persons who consume between 0 to 50 Kilowats per hour a month during the three months period.

He sighted example that “if your electricity bill was GHs 100 you will pay only GHs 50. This is being done to support industry, enterprises and the service sector in these difficult times and to provide some relief to households for loss of income”.
