The City Mayor of Kumasi Hon Sam Pyne on Tuesday 4th October 2022 handed over a total of 800 mono and dual desks to the Metro Education Directorate.
They are meant for distribution to 6 schools within the metropolis and the aim is to enhance academic activities.

Beneficiary institutions were Islamic Senior High School (200 mono desks), Kumasi Anglican Senior High School (100 mono desks), Moshie Zongo (77 dual desks), Fankyenebra M/A (180 mono desks), Duase (100 dual desks) and Krofrom CPC (143 dual desks). All were received by the Metro Director of Education Mr. David Oppong.
Presenting the furniture, the City Mayor underscored the move as part of efforts on the part of the assembly to improve upon educational facilities within the metropolis.
Sam Pyne recalled how the assembly had earlier expedited action to facilitate the completion of some academic facilities plus the cutting of sod (last month) to commence the construction of about 3 school projects all within the metropolis.
Before the presentation of the 800 mono and dual desks, the assembly according to him had provided some schools with about 2000 dual and mono desks.
Receiving the items, the Metro Education Director thanked the Mayor for the support.
He indicated that inadequate furniture falls among the key challenges faced by a high number of schools within the metropolis.
He promised to ensure a proper utilization of the desks so as to improve learning.
