The School of Business of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has organized a day’s professional forum for students of the college.
It specifically targeted 3rd and final year students.
The forum took the form of a panel discussion; panelists drawn from the various chartered organisations including Chartered Institute of Logistics and Supply Chain, Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Chartered Institute of Management Accountant, Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana, Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana.
The discussion offered room for panelists to share with participants what their organization stands for, their mission and objectives, legibility creteria required for one to become a member, fee and mode of payment, their collaboration with international bodies among others.
Briefing the media, Dr. Nicholas Addai Boamah who is the Chairman of the Laison committee (organiser of the event) said the essence of the forum was to bring the professional bodies to share with students the pathways that will enable participants prepare well for their professional exams.
“It is not enough to have just the academic qualification. It is very essential to have lprofessional qualification in addition to the academic qualification”.
“That will make them complete professionals who can contribute and work well in the 21st century.”,he added.
He said that will go a long way to contribute to the career advancement of the student.
Dr. Nicholas Addai also mentioned that the forum sought to find a good collaboration between industry and the academia.
Provost for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences-KNUST Prof. Charles Marfo was the chairman for the occasion.
He indicated in his acceptance speech that the forum was in line with the strategic objectives of the college which aims at strengthening the collaboration between the college and the industry for the benefit of students and the nation.
