Kumasi City Mayor Hon Sam Pyne has stated that KMA spends about GHs 30,000 on a single sanitation exercise carried out within the CBD.
He said this at the time he was addressing the press after having a fierce confrontation with some commercial drivers and transport operators in Kumasi over their blatant refusal to partake in the sanitation exercise held on Saturday 30th July 2022.
Hon Sam Pyne stormed the transport yard which is located at Adehyie market opposite the Kumasi Zoological garden as the clean-up activity was in a full swing.
The Mayor was totally bamboozled when he noticed that the leaders of the transport station were comfortably seated on a bench; one having his left leg comfortably crossed over his right leg whereas the place was littered with plastic waste.
A stinking drain situated just before the station was also heavily chocked with garbage but on a shocking note, none of the commercial drivers or leaders of the station were cleaning the area.
“This is about the third time we have carried out a clean-up exercise since I assumed office.
We spend not less than GHs 30,000 anytime we hold a single of such activity. Your transport area of operation is full of filth and instead of you joining hands with us in the exercise you have relaxed”, he roared in an interview with the media.
