KMA Incurs GHs 54 million Debt, 4 Contractors Take Assembly To Court

Four construction firms have instituted court action against Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly over unpaid contract sums.

They are; Confirm Company Limited, Webgold Co. LTD, Freko Company LTD and Grace and Mercies Enterprise.

The assembly according to report of authority committee also has an outstanding debt of GH 54 million, recorded as of April 2021.

Mofax Corporate Concrete Construction LTD (Rattray Park) have also taken the assembly to court.

However, report by the authority indicates that KMA has no formal contract with Mofax Corporate “but had a contract with Polar Construction who sublet part of the contract to Mofax.”

The report explained that Polar construction at a point formally requested for some payment to be made to Mofax for work done which was honoured. “Consequently the Assembly has made all payments in relation to the contact to Polar construction.

These were disclosed by the Acting City Mayor Hon Osei Assibey Assibey during the 1st Ordinary Meeting of the 2nd Session of the 8th Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly held on Monday 31st May 2021 at Prempeh Assembly Hall.
