Media practitioners across Ghana have come under tough verbal lashing from the Chief Executive Officer for Asokore Mampong Municipality- Hon Alidu Seidu over last Saturday’s(28th March 2020) panic buying which characterised the central business districts of Kumasi and Accra.
The local government officials has blamed the media as the cause of the commercial tension that sparked on the markets, explaining that the media who were expected to rightfully educate the public on how they should go about the preparation towards the two weeks domestic lockdown ended up informing the public to buy all necessary food items before the said date 30th March 2020- today) as though traders will not be permitted by government to operate within the two weeks.
Speaking exclusively in an interview with leakynews.net, he set the record straight that the media failed in giving out an accurate information.
“They were rather playing games around the Presidential decree (lockdown)”.
“During crucial moments like this, I expect the media to well inform and educate the public. This is not a moment of entertainment”, he underlined.
