Anytime people think of the mango tree, their minds often go to the fruit, as that is the part that matters to them the most.

Mango is very sweet and refreshing and is a favourite for many people.

Though people like the mango fruit for its sweet taste, it is also very healthy as it contains a lot of nutrients that benefit the body in various ways.

But do you know that it is not just the fruits that are healthy or useful? That’s true. Not only the fruit.

 

Other parts of the mango tree that are used by people include the roots, leaves, and bark.

The bark of the mango stem is something many people find useful, especially in this part of the world.

While they do not eat it or consume it like fruit, it is often used in the preparation of herbs, and it has proven effective over the past centuries. Sometimes it is mixed with parts of other plants and sometimes it is used alone.

In this article, we would be looking at some of the health benefits of the mango stem bark.

Now here we go;

1. It Is Used For Treating Boils:

One thing you can use the mango stem bark for is to treat and suppress boils.

This can be done by making a paste out of the bark and applying it directly to the boils, particularly the ones that are yet to show fully.

The mango bark contains vitamin C and ascorbic acid that would help to suppress the boils, healing it from the inside.

2. Diarrhoea Treatment:

Mango bark is also very effective in treating diarrhoea.

This can be done by boiling the bark and extracting the fresh juice.

It can also be used to treat menorrhoea, leucorrhea, and bleeding piles.

A 2015 study discovered that the phytoconstitutents of mango stem bark had powerful anti-malarial and antibacterial properties, which can be useful in treating diarrhoea.

3. Stopping Blood In Stool:

If you are experiencing blood in your stool, then drinking juice extracted from mango stem bark would help relieve it.

Just be sure to boil the mango bark in some milk and take it with honey two times a day.

While this is optional, it helps to make the juice taste a lot better.

4. Cure For Sore Throat:

Gargling mango bark extract can also help you find relief from a sore throat.

Gargle the juice for some seconds and spit out.

Repeat this process two or three times twice a day.

Just be careful not to swallow the juice after gargling.

5. Anticancer Properties:

According to studies, the bark of the mango stem contains anticancer such as isomangiferin gallate, mangiferin, mangiferin gallate, quercetin 3-O-galactoside, and quercetin-3-O-arabinopyranoside.

6. Used For Curing Malaria:

In countries like Nigeria, the use of mango stem bark in the preparation of antimalarial herbs has been in practice long any study was conducted.

This is the bark exhibits antiplasmodial effects which is very effective against the plasmodium yoelii nigeriensis malaria parasite.

7. Anti-inflammatory Properties:

It has also been observed that the mango stem bark is rich in anti-inflammatory properties, such as flavonoids and polyphenols, making it very effective against inflammation, especially intestinal inflammation, such as ulcerative colitis and irritable bowel syndrome.
