Kumasi Metropolis under total cleansing; KMA Boss conducts a large scale clean up exercise

Kumasi Metropolis is currently undergoing a total cleansing as some areas within Ashanti region observe the partial lockdown order which took effect on 30th March 2020 under the directive of His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo.

Mayor for Kumasi Hon Osei Assibey has since yesterday 2nd April 2020 carried out a large scale clean-up exercise within the metropolis backed by the inclusive support of fire service personnel, police, military, staff of KMA, workers of Zoomlion, media practioners among others, all in the name of keeping the city clean.

During the wee hours of today 3rd April 2020 at 6:00am, the Mayor and the foregoing team conducted a cleaning activity on all the principal streets and market at Santasi within the Nhyiaeso Constituency.

Gutters were cleaned, plastic materials were cleared from the streets including commercial areas that were marred by scartered pastic waste materials.

Abruptly after Santasi’s version, the same team under the able supervision of the mayor switched location to an area called Atasomanso to conduct a similar exercise and from there moved to the Central Business District (CBD) of the Metropolis.

At the time of filing this story today around 11:30am, the clean up exercise was in a full swing at Adum and specific location including the stretch of road before Hello Fm, Boss Fm, Melcom and areas around central market.

Solid wastes that had choked up gutters were blown out by the fire service persons to make way for easy flow of liquid waste.

The same action characterized yesterday’s which was done by the Mayor and his team of patriotic government workforces at Dr. Mensah, a popular down town (commercial area), close in location to the famous Manhyia palace.

Addressing leakynews.net in an exclusive interview, Hon Osei Assibey indicated that matters related to sanitation has always been one of his focus owing to the fact the wellbeing of the people is pivot in the administrative delivery of the assembly.

“As a leader, the responsibility lies on me to see to it that the health of the people I lead is always in a good state. This can only be realized by taking actions that can promote issues related to sanitation. This is exactly what we are doing. In the fight against COVID-19, sanitation is key ”, he said.
