Former Egypt Prime minister sued over torture allegations

 

 

A law suit has been initiated against former Prime Minister for Egypt Hazem el-Beblawl.

An American citizen Mohammed Soltan who claims he suffered an arrest during the heat of a crackdown in Cairo in the year 2013 is levelling accusations against the ex-minister for ordering his arrest, torture and attempted assassination.

Charges made per the law suit are that; the former minister coordinated with other officials of Egypt to oversee the arrest of Soltan and degrees of torture at several detention facilities.

Others include beatings, denial of medical treatment and burns to his body including prison guards who according court document were encouraging him to commit suicide.

The law suit was filed in a court located within the province of Columbia on Monday.
