Demons are part of the spirit beings described in the Christian Bible.
According to the holy Scriptures, they are angels who sided with another powerful angel in heaven referred to as “the dragon” to fight against the forces of the Almighty God.
1) According to Revelation 12:7-9 from the Bible:
“7 Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.
” 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven.
“9 The great dragon was hurled down-that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.”
So, from the foregoing, we know that Demons are followers of a powerful entity referred to as “the dragon”.
2) Because The said war that broke out happened in heaven, it means that demons once coexisted peacefully with the rest of the heavenly beings from the Bible.
3) From the 9th verse, it is seen that after their defeat, the demons were “hurled” down to earth. According to the Bible, what this means is that demons are currently roaming about the earth.
4) The war in heaven discloses that though the demons were heavenly beings, they lacked the power to withstand the force of God led by Archangel Michael. This led to their defeat and eventual banishment from heaven.
5) Mark 1:27
In the Book of Mark, demons were referred to as “impure spirits”.
“27 The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching-and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.”
6) Matthew 12:22
In the Book of Mathew, demons were said to have the ability to possess people.
“22 Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see.”
7) Luke 9:1
Here, Jesus gave his twelve apostles the power and authority to battle demons.
“1 When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases,”
8) Luke 17:9
According to this bible passage, the disciples of Jesus could get demons to submit to them at the mention of Jesus’ name.
“17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”
9) Ephesians 6:11-12
“11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
“12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Apostle Paul informs his comrades to put on the armour of God against ‘ the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms’.
Remember that demons once are fallen angels and once lived in the heavens according to the Bible.
10) Matthew 12:24
“24 But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.”
According to this passage from the Bible, there is a “Prince Of Demons” called “Beelzebul”. From the verse above, this Prince Of Demons can also grant other demons the power to drive other demons out of anyone they possessed.
