The performance of the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District assemblies in Ashanti region has not been encouraging since the introduction of the District League Table; Acting Ashanti regional Director for Media Coalition Against Open Defecation (M-CODe) has boldly indicated.
Reason for the above as indicated by him is because majority of communities located within the MMDAs are so much rooted in the practice of open defecation; an indicator used to access the assemblies vis-à-vis the District League Table ranking.
Mr. Joseph Donkor said in his address at the launch of the Ashanti regional branch of M-CODe in Kumasi on Wednesday that “most communities continue to practice open defecation”, adding that because Ashanti region has not be serious in fighting the canker, it has affected the ranking of MMDAs.
He has therefore appealed to Chiefs and other relevant stakeholders in the region to give their maximum support towards the fight against open defecation in the country.
