Dampare’s Appointment: Business Tycoon (Alhaji Pounds) Praises Akuffo-Addo

 

 

A renowned business tycoon in Kumasi Alhaji Abdul Dramani Mahama has commended President Akuffo-Addo for appointing Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as the Ag Inspector General of Police (IGP).

He remarked that Dr. Dampare is the perfect reflection of the interest of the citizenry owing to his excellent track record scored within the police service.

Alhaji Dramani indicated that though the President has chosen the will of the people, failure on the part of government to resource him adequately will not achieve the purposes for which he was appointed.

“The newly appointed Ag IGP must be empowered logistically to deliver his mandate effectively considering how crime has hiked in the country”, he admonished.

 

Alhaji Dramani who is otherwise referred to as “Alhaji Pounds” said Dr. George Akuffo Dampare in the delivery of his mandate should also ensure that police personnel are likewise equipped with the needed tools such bullet proof jackets, vans highly equipped with security apparatus, modern ammunitions, etc to fight crime in the country.

He explained that doing so will save them(police) from brutalities they suffer at the hands of armed robbers and other criminals.

ABOUT COP GEORGE DAMPARE

Acting IGP
COP George Dampare until his appointment was the Director General in charge of Administration at the Service.

He has been in the Ghana Police Service for close to 30 years.

He joined the Service as a Constable and has risen to the highest rank of Commissioner of Police, becoming one of the youngest Police Officers to have attained this status in recent years.

He has served in many leadership capacities in the Service including; Director General (Finance), Director General (Welfare), Director General (ICT), Commandant of the Police Command and Staff College, and Accra Region Police Commander.

COP Dr Akuffo Dampare became a Chartered Accountant at the age of 25 while serving as a Police Constable and currently holds a PhD in Finance.

He has been an Adjunct Lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and at the University of Cape Coast in Ghana.

Amongst his credentials; George Akuffo Dampare (PhD) was a Special Assistant to the Regional Commander, United Nations Mission in Bosnia Herzegovina, Municipal Police Commander, Cape Coast, ADC to the Vice President of Ghana, Accountant/Finance Officer, Ghana Police Service and the Head of Police and Narcotics Desk at the Ministry of Interior.

He has been credited for his lead role in the swift arrest of the alleged killer of former Abuakwa North MP, J.B. Danquah.
