So far 68 churches have been certified by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to carry out religious services within the Metropolis, www.leakynews.net has been informed.
They have satisfied all the covid-19 safety requirements outlined under Presidential directive and for that reason are qualified to resume religious activities, authorities have announced.
Few among them are; The Bride of Christ which is located at Abrepo Bronikrom, St. Peters Cathedral Basilica-Roman Hill, A.M.E Zion Church-Ajamasu, Victory Charismatic Church- Patasi Estate, A.M.E Zion Church-Nkoransa, Bethel Encounter Prayer Ministry-Dichemso, Church of Christ- Ohwim, Church of Christ-Suame, Bishop Samuel A.M.E Zion Chapel-Fante New Town, Prospect Trinity Foundation-Duse, Trinity Foundation Ministry-Achiase among others.
After picking an application form at the Environmental Health and Sanitation Department-KMA and fulfilling all conditions which include; fumigation by a technical person or company, availability of infrared thermometer, availability of a holding bay/area, availability of a veronica bucket, availability of sanitizers, availability of soap for hand washing etc, the above highlighted religious denominations were cleared and certified to hold church activities.
Mr. Isaac Bassanyin (Metro Environmental Health Officer) updated leakynews.net exclusively that an inspection was carried out last Sunday by the assembly together with the Regional Coordinating Council to observe the level of compliance.
“Everything was on point. Activities of churches that were given permit were in full compliance”, he told leakynews.net.
The wrong perception held by majority that the litany of conditions for certification is a grand scheme employed by government to attack or sabotage the church indirectly was rubbished by the environmental officer, explaining that government is not in any way disenfranchising some churches from their spiritual obligations but instead ensuring that churches are safe for worship. “Nothing in the world can attack the church. Government is not attacking the church but only trying to protect the souls in the church by making sure that they are not attacked by the Covid-19”.
