Authorities of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have inducted fresh Bachelor of Law Students admitted this year 2023 into the faculty of law.
They are the 21st batch and their induction per records of the institution occured on the 20th year after the first batch of students was accepted to the faculty.
The ceremony was held on Thursday 16th February 2023 and the swearing-in of the inductees was officiated by His Lordship Justice Kofi Akrowiah (Supervising High Court Judge).
Present during the occasion were Prof. Charles Marfo (Provost of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences), Nana Akwasi Awuah (Managing Director for Precious Minerals Marketing Company), Acting Dean Dr. Chris Adomako-Kwakye ESQ, among others.
In his address, Dr. Chris Adomako-Kwakye ESQ admonished the fresh students to channel all their energies “to that which you are doing here. It may be very energy-sapping. However, the rewards after completion of your legal education are unimaginable. We will support you wholeheartedly and be delighted to share your joy when you succeed.
Keep in mind that exceptional lawyers must earn their way to the top.
Take advantage of all the resources and opportunities offered by this faculty and the University to establish a prosperous career”
Still in his address, he indicated that the faculty since its establishment has developed into one of the best law faculties in the nation.
Dr. Adomako-Kwakye said it has had the good fortune of working with some of the best and most devoted teaching and non-teaching staff, who put in an endless effort to make sure the faculty remains at the top at all times and in all endeavor.
“The KNUST Faculty of Law is a thriving organization in a time when the legal profession is undergoing significant change, and there is genuine uncertainty about what lawyers’ careers will look like in ten or twenty years, especially in light of how to reform professional legal education and certain aspects of the regulations of the legal profession.
For law students to thrive, adapt and lead in this brave new world, they must have the ideal combination of abilities, the best foundational education and practical training.
The KNUST Faculty of Law takes deliberate, strategic action in response to this dynamic environment. It is an innovative location-innovation in both attitude and practice.”
In his keynote address, Nana Akwasi Awuah congratulated the students on their induction.
He encouraged them to pursue excellence in their academic work by committing to their books and exercising faith and discipline.
