“churches without covid-19 certification will be closed down if…”-KMA Environmental officer tells Churches in Kumasi



Director in Charge of Environmental Health and Sanitation Department Mr. Isaac Bassanyin has announced that Churches within the metropolis will have to satisfy officially stipulated covid-19 requirements before they can be certified to resume service this coming Sunday.

Without the certification, no church will be permitted to hold operate.

Requirements that qualifies them include; a prove that the church has been fumigated, name of institution that carried out the fumigation, type of fumigation (disinfection or disinfestation), name of officer who carried out the exercise.

Other requirements are availability of covid-19 prevention protocol measures which are; veronica bucket, sanitizers, soap for hand washing, infrared gun thermometer and a holding bay/area.

Religious denominations as explained by Mr. Bassanyin are to pick up a certification form at KMA.


Per the content of the form, religious denominations are to provide their location, postal address, type of institution/facility, owner of the institution.

He told that, effective monitoring will be carried out by a team from the assembly on Sunday. “They will move round to inspect the level of compliance of churches vis-à-vis the outlined protocols.

He gave a strong warning that churches that will violate any of the protocols will be closed down.
