Chief Inspector Newman Kyei Akomea-(Police Head office-Accra) has donated 200 sanitary pads, 900 exercise books and pens to students of Kwamang of the Nsuta/Kwaman-Beposo District.
The donation covered students of Kwamang Basic school, Kwamang SDA JHS and Kwamang Presbey JHS.
Males received exercise books and pens, whereas females were given sanitary pads and exercise books.
Presentation of the items was carried out intermittently to the schools on 1st September 2023.
The gesture also formed part of the celebration of his birthday which fell on the same day.
Addressing the media, he mentioned that he saw the need to support the girls with the sanitary pads owing to the fact that most of them are vulnerable and that their parents lack the financial muscle to make daily purchase of same for them.
He therefore called on government to make free provision of sanitary pads to students across the country especially basic schools as part of the free education policy.
Mr Paul Beniako, headmaster for Kwamang Anglican Basic School expressed his warmest appreciation to Chief Inspector Newman Kyei Akomea for such kind gesture.
He also called on individuals and institutions to follow the example of the Chief Inspector.
