The main motive of this article is to introduce the reader to general aspect of cancers.
It is designed to be an overview of cancer and cannot cover all cancer types.
This article will again attempt to help guide the reader on the foods to stay away fron and foods to eat, to help prevent cancer.
Most people wonder why some individual who somehow seem to be ok and healthy, later suffer from deadly diseases Like; Diabetes, hypertension, skin diseases upper respiratory tract infections, arthritics, fibroids, cancer, hemorrhoids, toothaches, cardiovascular, health problems.
If you properly take care of yourself medically wise, you will be reducing your chances of catching deadly diseases which may lead to death.
In this article we will be focusing on ‘Cancer.’
Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cell any were in a body, anything that may cause a normal body cell to develops abnormally can cause cancer; general categories of cancer-related or causative agent are as follows: chemical or toxic compound exposure, ionizing radiation, some pathogens, and human genetics.
Cancer which is also called malignancy, is an abnormal growth of cells. There are more than 200 types of cancer, including breast cancer, skin cancer, lungs cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, lymphoma, etc.
The three most common cancer in men, women and children in Nigeria are listed as follows:
Men: Prostate, lungs and colorectal.
Women: Breast, lungs and colorectal.
Children: Leukemia, brain tumors and lymphoma.
The incident of cancer and cancer types are influenced by many factors, such as age, gender, race, local environment factors, diet and genetic.
The World Health Organization (WHO) provide the following general information about cancer worldwide:
#1. Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide. It’s accountable for 8.2million deaths (around 22% of all deaths not related to communicable disease; most recent data from WHO)
# 2. Lungs, stomach,lever,colon and breast cancer cause the most cancer deaths each year.
#3. Deaths from cancer worldwide are projected to continue rising with an estimated 13.1 million death in 2030 (about 70% increase)
Cancer Starts When You Begin To Notice The Following:
Symptoms and signs of cancer depend on the type of cancer, where it is located, and/or where the cancer cells are spread. For example may present as a lump in the breast or nipple discharge while metastatic breast cancer may present with symptoms of pain (if spread to bone), extreme fatigue(lungs), or seizure (brain). A few patient show no signs or symptoms until the cancer is far advance.
Below are warning signs and/or symptoms that a cancer may be present and which should prompt a person to seek medical attention. The word ‘CAUTION’ can help you remember this.
#1. Change in bowel or bladder habits
#2. A sore throat that doesn’t heal
#3. Unusual bleeding or discharge (for example nipple secretions or ‘Sore’ that will oozes material)
#4. Thickening or lump in the breast tasticles or elsewhere
#5. Indigestion (usually chronic) or difficulties of swallow
#6. Obvious change in size, colour shape or thickness of a wart or mole
#7. Nagging cough or hoarseness
#8. Unexplained loss of weight or loss of appetite
#9. A new type of pain in the bone or other part of the body that may be steadily worsening or come and go but is unlikely previous pains one has had before
#10. Unexplained high grade fever, which may either persistence or come and go
#11. Persistence fatigue or nausea or vomiting
#12. Recurring infection which will not clear with usual treatment
#13. Voice change
#14. Weight loss
#15. Skin changes
Anyone with these signs and symptoms should consult their doctor: these symptoms may arise from noncancerous condition.
Cancer treatment may include chemotherapy, radiation and/or surgery.

Worst choices of food and drink you should run away from:
#1. Processed meat Red meat
#2. Processed food such as Bacon, sausage, hot dog, pepperoni, etc
#3. Sugar and refined carbs
#4. Package and fried foods such as cookies, crackers, cakes, muffins, pie crusts, etc
#5. Fried chicken or meat
#6. Canned fruits with heavy sugar
#7. French fries
#8. Frozen foods such as blocked ice cream, ice block, and very cold water
#9. Pizza dough
#10. Regular ice cream
#11. Saturated fats
#13. Sugary desserts and non-diet soda
#14. Whole grain sandwich
#15. Canned tomatoes
#16. Meat fat
#17. Heavy alcohol use
#18. Use of hard drugs
#19. The use of expired products
#20. Deep frying

Best choice of food and drink you should consume to stay healthy:
#1. Chicken without skin
#2. Fresh fish (not fried)
#3. Low sugar yogurts
#5. Dark green vegetable
#6. Healthy fat like olive oil
#7. Fresh fruits that is low in sugar (not processed)
#8. Vegetables like carrot, cucumber, Brussels sprouts and squash
#9.Diet high in non starchy vegetables such as broccoli, spinach and beans
#10. Fresh tomatoes, guava and water melon
#11. Eating oranges, berries, peas, ball paper, etc
#12. Avoid trans fat
#13. Limit saturated fats from read meat and dairy
#14. Add more unsaturated fat from fish, olive oil, nuts and avocados
#15. Omega 3 fatty acid found in salmon, tuna an flaxseeds can fight inflammation and support brain and heart heath
#16. Cut down on sugar and refined carbs
#17. Limit processed a d red meat
#18. Eat some raw fruits and vegetables such as garden egg’s leaves
#19. Wash all fruits and vegetables
#20. Be careful of what you put in the microwave. Use waxed pepper rather than plastic wrap to cover your food in the microwave and always use microwave safe containers.
Other lifestyle tips and prevention
#1. Be as lean as possible without becoming underweight
#2. Be physically active at least 30 minutes every day
#3. Limit alcoholic drinks
#4. Where possible aim to meet nutritional need through diet alone
#5. It is best for mother to breastfeed exclusively for up to six months
#6. After treatment, cancer survivors should follow the recommendations for caner prevention.
