Atwima Kwanwoma MP donates GHs 100,000 to feed residents

 

 

The member of parliament for Atwima Kwawoma Constituency in the Ashanti region Dr. Kojo Appiah Kubi has set aside ¢80,000-¢100,000 Ghana cedis to support his constituents to complement government’s support program for the vulnerable amidst the two weeks lockdown.

In support of this initiative, the Mp of the area has released the said fund to support about 50,000 inhabitants within 80 communities, who struggle to get three square meals a day.

Atwima Kwawoma constituency is predominately a farming community and most of them depend largely on proceeds from their produces.

The constituency is typically rural with about 93% of the residents living in small settlements of various sizes between 200 and 5,000. The population below 14 and above 65 years of age account for about 43.83% and 7.72% of the population respectively.

It is therefore imperative to adjust to the situation and support our constituents at this critical situation, he said.

 

Through these interventions, the government has release 200 bags of rice, tomatoes, sardine, oil and 100 bags of gari to be distributed among the less endowed people in the constituency.

Before this, the Mp had early donated hundreds of veronica baskets, hand sanitizer, soap and others to the constituents.

The initiative he said, would positively benefit them in time like this, and also help limit the spread of the viral.

The Mp further appeals to the constituents to abide by the directives and follow the protocols being set out to control the spread of the disease. Your life is in your hands, hence, the need to strictly adhere to the directives and live long.
