Asokore Mampong;Muslim clerics distribute lockdown food items to Leaders of zongo communities

 

 

Office of the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam yesterday 14th April 2020 dispensed their share of the lockdown food items received from government to the various leaders assigned to oversee their (food) distribution at the various Zongo communities within the Asokore Mampong Municipality in Ashanti region.

Breakdown on the number of food items include; 95 bags of rice, 55 bags of ‘gari’, 95 packs of edible oil, 245 cartons of canned sardine, and 450 packs of eggs.

Under the tight supervision of the Covid-19 response team, the items were sent to areas including Sabon Zongo, Asawasi, Akwatialine, Royal, Pajahene, Majema, Aboabo extension, Bus Stop Mallam Kataki, Aboabo 2, Akotosu, Akurem, Mempe Asem, Adukrom, Nima, Sawaaba, Sepe, Asabe, Boubai and Pakusu.

 

They were all presented at the Regional Central Mosque.

The occasion was embellished with the colorful presence of the regional chief Imam Sheikh Abdul Mumin Haruna, Kumasi Zongo Chief Alhaji Sultan Umar Faruk Saeed, Secretary to the Chief Imam Alhaji Ustaz Ahmed among others.

Speaking exclusively to leakynews.net, the Kumasi Zongo Chief Alhaji Sultan Umar Faruk Saeed advised the various representatives of the various areas to ensure that the items are given to the right people (vulnerable) .

He thanked His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo for the initiative and for remembering the Muslim community.

Regional Chief Imam Sheikh Abdul Mumin Haruna also challenged the well-to-do Muslim brothers and sisters to emulate the example of the President by donating to the poor in society with what they have been blessed with.


The status-quo he underlined demands the support of all. “Government cannot fight this battle alone”, he said.
