Executives of the No Business as Usual (NBU) Project have kick-started the holding of series of town hall meeting within the Asokore Mampong Municipality for this year 2021.
Intermittently, the forum will be replicated in all the 14 electoral areas making up the municipality per the plans of officials of the project.
The first was rolled out on Saturday 17th April 2021 at Aboabo Extension electoral area and as part of the objectives, assembly member was given the opportunity to address electorates on the state of affairs and impact of his delivery since he was elected into office.
Electorates on the other hand were offered a platform to pose questions on pressing challenges affecting them within the electoral area.
It was a way of deepening social accountability and transparency; one of the primary objectives of the NBU Project.
Present at the event were Zongo Chief for Aboabo Alhaji Suleman Musah, Municipal Director for the National Commission For Civic Education (NCCE) Mr. Matthew Agbenu, Clerics of the Islamic faith, Civil Society Organizations among others.
In his address, Municipal Director for NCCE Mr. Matthew Agbenu sensitived electorates on the duties of an assembly member, role of citizens as in protecting the environment, why residents should liase with the assembly member in the development of their area among others.
Scores of residents who spoke during the open forum session identified challenges including dumping of refuse at unapproved areas, inadequate street lights, high rate of crime, inadequate speed rumps etc.
Speaking in an interview, Hon Faisal Dauda promised to address all problems that were raised by the residents.
