The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) unit of the Asokore Mampong Municipality is embarking on a public education against the spread of COVID-19.
During the wee hours of today 19th June 2020, Municipal officers for the commission with the assistance of a newly acquired official van equipped with a PA system carried out the campaign on the various residential streets of Parkoso and Asokore Mampong communities.
Municipal Director for NCCE Agbenu Matthew steered the public education, backed by the able support of Madam Akua Afriyie and the editorial head of www.leakynews.net.
Matthew Agbenu sensitized community dwellers on the signs and syptoms of Coronavirus infection, mode of transmission, safety precautions, dietary tips that aids in boosting ones immune system against Covid-19, etc.
In his public address, he stressed as needful the wearing of nose masks and application of hand-rub sanitisers consequent to the skyrocketing figures on confirmed cases.
He underlined in his address that Presidential directive on the mandatory wearing of nose masks must be complied by all residents so as to save them from the grips of the law.
This call was made after the team realised that most residents were without a nose mask even at the time officials were holding the public education.
Majority of onlookers and those who had then lined themselves up as they waited for commercial vehicle were without a nose mask.
Matthew Agbenu, chastised them and kept hammering on the reality of the infection.
Speaking exclusively to www.leakynews.net, he said the campaign is an ongoing event and that a similar exercise will be replicated tomorrow Saturday.
They will engage NPP delegates at the various voting centres within the Municipality and get them informed on the need to adhere to all the Covid-19 safety protocols such as social distancing, wearing of nose masks etc.
He thanked the President of Ghana for supporting them with a brand new vehicle which according to him will go far to help them deliver at a swifter pace as they reach out to the various electoral areas within the Municipality.
