Officials of Asanko Gold Mine have completed the construction of a cluster of modern classrooms plus other academic facilities for students and residents of New Tetrem community of the Amansie West District in Ashanti region.
The building of the projected which kick-started last year 2020 and took eight months to hit the stage of completion.
The facility is a fulfillment of one the resettlement obligations per the mining and minerals law, aimed at substituting the old Tetrem R/C Primary and J.H.S School block as officials migrate residents to a different location as responsible miners.

The move is premised on how they are badly exposed to the negative impact of the ongoing mining activities of Asanko Gold Mine.
It comprises 6 classrooms, offices, computer laboratory, staff common room, headmaster’s office all for the primary block and 3 classrooms, a staff common room, head masters office for the J.H.S block.
Inclusive to the above are; a five-bedroom house serving as teachers quarters which is situated within the school’s premises, and an extra 3 bedroom house for teachers located within the community.
The whole facility was handed over on Monday 17th May 2021 to the District Education Directorate through the district assembly.
Present at the occasion were the District Chief Executive officer Hon Nii Lartey Olenu, District Education Director Mr. Kwabena Owusu, Unit Manager-Land Access and Social Investement for the mining company Mr. Isaac Kwaakye among others.
Addressing the media, Mr. Isaac Kwaakye made an indication that the project is an improved version of the old school building.
District Chief Executive Officer in his address during the handing over advised teachers to encourage the culture of maintenance among students by ensuring that the facility is well taken care of.
Following the acquisition of a new facility, he charged teachers heighten their delivery so as to uplift the academic performance of the school.
