Anglican Church 15th Biennial Conference: President Calls For Resourcing Of DSW

President for Diocesan Guild of St. Mary (Anglican diocese of Kumasi) Madam Maude Kwarteng Amaning has called for the provision of adequate resources for officers of the Department of Social Welfare (DSW). This she stated will facilitate the delivery of quality service as they execute their mandate.

DSW is reported to be facing several challenges including lack of infrastructure and adequate staff. According to her, the gap is affecting the assistance officered by DSW staff to persons affected by personal, domestic or work-related problems.

Madam Maude Kwarteng Amaning gave the foregoing admonishing in an interview with the media during the celebration of the 15th Biennial Conference of the guild, held on Saturday 20th August 2022 under the theme “TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE IT”.

Touching on the increasing rate of domestic abuse plus other forms of crime meted on women, she pleaded on government to consider giving preferential treatment to women who fall victim especially with rape cases.


She cited how rape victims are told to pay money before they are treated at the hospital. She pleaded that, such persons should be offered a free or subsidized medical charges and an exceptional attention.


The event was well attended by a high number of female members of the guild including the representative of the Chief of Staff Hon. Akosua Frema Opera.

It is held every two years. This year’s versions was followed up by a donation of charity goods to a health center of the Anglican Church at Apinkra.

The guild since its formation in the year 1962 has made donations to prisons, orphanage homes, health institutions among others and presently has over 600 members.

Addressing the media, the Anglican Bishop of Kumasi Rt. Rev Oscar Christian Amoah called on Christians across the country to support the leadership of the country with prayers, work hard and also abide by all regulations instituted for the progress of the country.
