The gesture falls under a project dubbed “Al-Adahi Project” and was carried out at the time Muslims were celebrating Eid al-Ahdha; an Islamic feast of sacrifice which is the second and the largest of the two main holidays celebrated in Islam.
Mohammed Bun Bida Public Relations Officer for Al-Khairiya Organisation said the support fell in line with one the tenets of Islamic religion i.e giving to the poor and needy in society.
“Eid al-Ahdha is a moment we have to remember and support the poor and needy in society by way of giving.
Considering their poor economic status, it think it is prudent to support them with this food item.
Doing that puts a smile on their faces and makes them feel part of the society”
Mohammed Bun Bida admonished the well-to-do institutions and individuals to do same so as to ease the burden on the vulnerable.
He indicated that the aside the above, the agency assists Muslims with food items during during the period of Ramadan and has provided various forms of support to individuals and communities since 2013.
