Yabi, a community located within the Atwima Kanwoma District will soon be the hub of sports in Ashanti region and perhaps Ghana as the traditional council has settled on putting up a jumbo and an ultramodern sports facility in the area.
A colossal tract of land spanning over 20 acres has been graded and made ready for the soon construction of an ultra-modern palace which the sports facility is inclusive.
Per the plans of the Chief for the area (sole financier) Nana Kontomire Kwame Ababio, the project will be riddled with different varieties of sports activities.
Talented youth in the area who have a strong passion for sports will be groomed at the facility through the coaching of Kotoko’s sports legend Malik Jabir and from there will be enrolled unto an academy which shall bear the name of the community.
The facility will include two long tense pitches, two training pitches, basketball pitch, table tennis and volley ball pitch, a gym center, medical area, a swimming pool and a host of others.
During last year 2020’s Christmas yuletide, a football competition was organized by the Chief for the sorting of best players for the academy.
Coach Malik Jabir announced that an inter-district football gala will also be held under the auspices of the traditional council, all aimed at nurturing the younger generation in the field of sports.
Coach Malik Jabir, a native of the community told www.leakynews.net that the initiative will go a long way to uplift the image of the community and offer much benefit to residents.
He expressed that he is ready to impact the knowledge and experience he has acquired in football into any youth who is ready to learn.
Nana Kwame Kontomire Kwame Ababio told www.leakynews.net that after assuming the role as the traditional lord, he realized that there are many youth in the area who are much talented in sports but are unable advance due to lack of support.
“ I therefore decided to gather the youth and bring Coach Malik Jabir to offer his assistance and help set up an academy for the community and the district.”
Chief for Yabi therefore called on investors to offer their support for the successful actualization of his vision for the area.
