Hon Kennedy Agyapong’s bid for the position of presidential candidate on the ticket of NPP come 2024 has attracted a massive endorsement in Ashanti region.
A press briefing solely funded by over 180 pro-Ken Groups in the region has brought to light that any attempt by the maverick politician cum Member of Parliament for Assin Central to quash his quest for the position will spell a great dissatisfaction among NPP enthusiasts who have openly thrown their support behind him.
A group calling itself Concerned Supporters of NPP announced at the media engagement held on Wednesday 31st August 2022 that Hon Kennedy Agyapong “has no choice but to avail himself for the upcoming flagbearership contest of our cherished party…We want him to know that he has a large number of followers in Ashanti region who are ready to campaign for him in the coming elections. We want him to know that he has businessmen and women who are ready to help him campaign”.
Setting the record straight, Convener for the group Ohemeng Ian Moore said that findings from the group’s interactions with the citizenry suggest that Ghanaians are yearning for an accomplished businessman in the person of Hon. Agyapong to ascend the throne of the presidency.
He also noted that “apart from his prowess of business creation, Hon. Agyapong has proven to be a staunch disciplinarian who will not hesitate to crack the whip even against members of his own government when given the nod. The above trait is what the country has been missing in her leadership-a development which has compounded the problems of the country.”
He premised the foregoing on a statement made by the Assin Central MP that when he becomes the president, he will not waste time to sack the first lady (his wife) from office when she misbehaves.
“if he has the gut to crack the whip on his own wife when she goes astray, then you can imagine what will be your fate as an appointee when you go wrong”.
Ohemeng Ian Moore added that “We cannot afford to miss the candidature of a man who says that he will use his own funds to prosecute his campaign so that he will not be corrupted, purchase his own convoy including the security vehicles and dash them to the state when leaving office.
And of course, we cannot forget the fact that he has reiterated on several media platforms that when ushered into power, he will never take salaries. This does not come as a surprise as he has been donating his salaries to the needy in our society. Again we cannot overlook the fact that he has been paying school fees, medical bills and engaging in other acts of benevolence for Ghanaians.”
The group has therefore pledged their full support for his candidature, indicating that they are working assiduously towards his victory in both the primaries and will do same when he is finally elected as the flagbearer for the presidential election.
